Where Do We Go From Here? 30 Year Anniversary – Postponed to the Fall
October 4, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm PDT
$29.50Of course I don’t know when the postponed concert will take place. Oct 4 is a placeholder. But please don’t mark your calendars for that date. I’m just wanting to keep this event on my events page. It will happen. It will be in the Fall. Actual date TBD.
Way back in 1990, a group of LGBTQ musicians decided to form a band and began giving concerts about twice a year and marched in the Portland Pride Parade.
Now thirty years later, that group has evolved into a non-profit organization known as Rose City Pride Bands. The Rose City Marching Band takes part in Pride Festivals around the state as well as playing at the AIDS Walk and Portland Marathon. Rose City Swing is a 21-piece swing band that performs at jazz clubs, senior centers, and private parties playing everything from jazz, latin, and bebop to funk, soul and R&B.
Rose City Wind Symphony is a 60-75 member wind ensemble offering our 30th anniversary concert on May 29. We will perform a new work we commissioned by LGBTQ composer Randall Standridge. Kellen Ko, a senior band student at Westview High School in Beaverton, Oregon, is the winner of our third annual Young Artist Solo Competition. They will play the first movement of Flute Concerto in D by Carl Reinecke.
