Saxophone & Clarinet Lessons 503.888.5796
Some years back, when I was singing with Aurora Chorus, I first learned of a song by Franz Schubert called An Die Musik. The title translates To Music. In English, the lyric opens with these words:
You, noble art, in how many grey hours
Where life has ensnared and encircled me
Have you kindled my heart to warm love,
Have you transported me to a better world!
When I think of how “life has ensnared and encircled me” the last three years, it has been Music that has saved me, “kindled my heart to warm love” and “transported me to a better world!”
And so that is the theme for this recital, To Music! Thank you, Music! In today’s performances you will hear music that celebrates our connections with one another, music that acknowledges our sadness, and music that brings hope.
