Folk Music

The theme for the Spring Student recital is Folk Music. And we have a diverse and entertaining hour of music prepared for you!

Seven students have selected folk music that speaks to their own heritage. They’ve taken these songs and arranged them for duos, trios, and quartets.

We’ll be hearing music from China, Korea, Japan, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Poland, and a Civil Rights gospel tune for sax quartet.

A clarinet student will be accompanied by her sister on guitar. A saxophone student will be accompanied by his younger sister on piano. Another sax student will be accompanied by her high school friend on piano.

But wait! There’s more!

PGSB ConcertOur guest artists are Craig Bunch, a local music teacher playing clarinet duets with Sam Aquino. Craig teaches elementary music at West Powelhurst Elementary School and performs with the US Army Band. Both Craig and Sam play with Portland Gay Symphonic Band.
