All Saxes, All The Time

h2 quartetThe North American Saxophone Alliance, aka NASA, is coming to town next weekend. On March 10 and 11, NASA’s Region One Conference will be held at Portland State University in downtown Portland.

This saxophone conference features two days of masterclasses, lectures and performances of sax quartets, trios, and solos. The Friday evening concert is billed as Saxophonists of the Pacific Northwest. Saturday’s evening concert is a performance by the headlining group, H2 Quartet.

If you are a saxophonist living in this area, whether you are a beginner or longtime player, you owe it to yourself to come down to PSU on March 10 and 11 and immerse yourself in saxophone land.

Region One encompasses Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Alaska. Expect to hear and meet saxophonists from those states in particular, but also around the continent.

Note that NASA holds regional conferences every other year. In the opposite years NASA holds its Biennial Conference. Last year’s Biennial was hosted by Texas Tech University.
